    Mk4 throttle?

Noticed on my Mk4, it has drive by wire.
I notice that when i change gear the revs maintain high in the time between pushing the clutch down and releasing it. Is this done on purpose to give a smooth change?
Also sometimes the revs drop a bit when reversing. Although could just be my imagination. Is this normal to?
    Thanks
