Fixed one problem, created another! Please HELP!

Was having problems with my alternator not recharging my battery, so removed and replaced that earlier on today. Put everything back as it was afaik!

    Great - problem solved!

Oh, now when I start the car, it turns over a few times before finally starting. And when I put my foot down to accelerate, it dips first before revving. Also, the engine management light has now come on. Tried restarting it hoping it was a one off, but it keeps doing it...

Hopefully it's something simple I've forgotten to do?

    Can anyone help??

make sure all the earth connections are ok, might also be worth doing a pedal test if you can to read the codes and post them on here,

search this forum for pedal test

Thanks, will re-check all the connectors in a minute.

As for the pedal test, not sure I can do this with my engine (X16XEL). From what I read earlier I think it said it only works with Z engines. And I tried it anyway but couldn't get it to work!

On the X series engines you need to do the "Paperclip Test".

Easy to do, a quick search for how.
