    Smile Trim removal and painting.....

I'm toying with the idea of colour coding the black/gray trim that runs round the whole of the car, but before i set about buying paint and sand paper, how much agro is it to remove and replace, i dont want take off any trim only to find that i cant get it back on.......

the main probs i can see is the bumper area's....

any body that has done this before or has any advise.. i would very much like to hear from you....

    Thanks

    Neil

Hi neil, bit of a pain getting trims on and off and plus side ones are bonded, You would be better off painting them whilest still on the car, but mask off and cover everything else up with newspaper so no overspray on your car, thus leaving just the bits that need preping and painting up. My advice.

    You will need....

    wet & dry
    paint
    plastic primer
    clear laquer

Thats bout it!!! Hope this helps m8

Your GSi ones maybe bonded enbracefan but the ones on the lower models like mine a Neil's that are just black plastic are all just clipped/bolted on (at least they are on mine). The only ones that aren't removable persay are the bits in the front bumper and the corrugated bit in the back bumper as these are actually part of the bumper.

Quick follow up question for James:
I take it you can access the screws clips etc for the wheel arches once you undo the arch liners and the door strips after you take off the door cards?

Yes drew, when I had my door cards off before I noticed them sticking through, and as for the arch trims then yes you can feel them up inside the arches.

There was a guy on here who fitted the clc bodykit that Tangoid has and removed and sprayed all of the black trim pieces on his white Zaf A and he gave full instructions on how to remove the trim pieces but for the life of me I can't find the original thread.
