    What is a drivebelt?

Ok so I know what a drivebelt is, but my thoughts are when do they generally need replacing and would it be done at the same time as the timing belt,

Had the timing belt replaced on mine (complete kit) along with Waterpump,

My thoughts are.... when the hell do I replace the drivebelt and how much would it cost me roughly??

Any insight would be very handy, as reading through the haynes manual is giving me a headache....

Drivebelt and Timing Belt are the same thing mate, they both drive other components off the crank

    ok now I am confused,

According to haynes the drivebelt is the Auxiliary Drive Belt and has something to do with the alternator (and other components), but the timing belt is something to do with the engine no,

If they are the same thing, why are they listed with seperate names and so on, it's really not making any sense to me now lol. :|

Sorry yes i may have confused you slightly there, the drivebelt as your seeing it will be the secondary belt you can see to the left of the engine which is running your altenator and aircon if you have it, the timing belt is seperate and will be enclosed behind guards, im not sure if there is a replacment interval on these, however id imagine it to be changed when doing the timing belt due to requiring to remove it

Drive belts (aux belt) are usually changed when they start to squeak/perish. Mine was lasted 8 years before it needed to be changed. In summary, don't worry about it!

If it does go, your battery wont charge and your aircon wont work, thats all. Not worth doing if its not really old or tattered

I know this is an old thread but is there a "How To" on aux belts? They seem to have about a million different names as well. (Fan belt, Cam belt, Timing belt etc.) I'm asking as mine has started to whine for a short while on start up and needs replacing so if anyone has a how to that would be pretty damn awesome.
