    sports or de-cat

Getting a full turbo back system next month and just wondering wether or not to de-cat or sports cat.

I see many of you have opted for de-cat and i kno the advantages are good but how do you get away with mot time??

Its gonna be an extra £200 ontop for a sports cat on my system so I really would like to avoid that if possible.

So how do you do it de-cat guys?

if you get a sports cat it will pass the mot. if you get a decat you will have to put the cat back on come mot time.

no, when u get a decat where the cat is supposed to go there is a piece of ure exhaust with 2 flanges on it and 2 flanges are welded onto the cat and when u go for ure MOT u just take the decat pipe out and put ure cat back in. . . another thing is, u will gain more power from a decat, at the same time it will be a bit louder. . . .

Well, I have the coupe turbo which has precat main cat in one... Should I just get the guy there to adapt the cat so its flange both ends? Also what should i get him to do with the lambada sensors?

yep thats what to do, im sure theres only a lmabda sensor before the cat, if not u can get someone with one of thos computer programme diagnostic things to turn off a light if one comes up.

i read report or post somewher that will counter that, i.e. sports cats being better than a full de-cat power wise but if this is true i'm not sure, guy was talking about older engines been better with a full de-cat and newer engines better with a sports cat. seems alot of hassle changing the cat every time you mot, spesh for only a few bhp anyway.

flatfreeman, u sure ur not seeing alot of people with a pre-cat de-cat, thats the pipe with the lambda sensor on, i think the cat in this is used predominatly for sound control but someone will correct me if i'm wrong. This can be changed for a few extra horses and wont affect mot, 100 sheets will get you a scorpion one.

Not 100% sure m8 but tbh it really depends if u wanna spend the money on a sports cat when u can get a decat for a fraction of the price, entirely ure own choice lol, i know what i would do. . . .
