    what tyres do people recommend?

I Own an astra mk4 gsi.

currently running yoko prada spec 2's, fine them to be quite good handling tyres, but there quite a soft compound and dont last long at all...

    Potenza's are good tyres

I'm running parada's but i get them at 55 quid a tyre so wear doesnt bother me, although my current set have done 20 miles in 3 years so i cant realy comment on wear lol
