Ok, please can anyone help? Don't Try unless youv'e got some experiance.
My donor car, is a 2001 astra turbo berton'e coupe, full spec leather alarmed etc, totally unmodified, 2 owners and mint.
The previous owner, blew a piston, and holed the bottom end, Ahhhh!!!!
To replace engine, with the vxr z20leh,
Which has been done, 20k miler,
I have done this:
All drive shafts /suspention/discs/hubs/wishbones/wiring (unclipped) etc removed.
Subframe/ steering rack, dropped
old engine out,(retaining all wiring looms but engine/ battery /alt
New engine: Fitted with new f23 gearbox/ clutch/ arp bolted
replaced canbus eng loom with z20let,(wooh!!!) a nightmare.
In situe, new engine mounts, new wishbones, new drag link arms, new discs, new wheels(not put on yet kei force 10 18x225x35 toyo brand new)
So i mean business!!!!
Regrets so far: wish i had gone for the vxr m32 6 speed GB n driveshafts
However: i havn't so,ha ha. i am using the original engine ecu, i have opted for the vxr rad unit, ie ac/ rad and intercooler NOTE and important, i used the let fans on both rad and ac, same wiring/ same coolant ecu.
PLEASE FOLLOW,The inlet manifold leh, is very similar to the let albeit, a vacuum hose,(differant place) similarily the Throttle body is the same albeit, the let is heated.
I retained the leh inlet manifold and throttle body, and adapted the vacuum hose, AND BLANKED off the coolant hose/ heater pipe(need to do a return later)
I retained the let afm, and injectors, and coilpack.
Had to wire up the cam sensor(differs in connectors) also extend the wiring to the maf sensor, with it being the plastik boost hose.
The z20let coolant auxillary pump/hoses retained and wired
WITH IT BEING THE VXR TURBO:
The header tank top hose, went to the turbo (duel bypass) the other top header tank hose to the rad overflow (top riught hand side) normally on the leh it would go down to the bottom of the head, but the leh has a connection to bypass this (i think?)
HERE WE GO:
I think evrything is ok, and all pluged in No visable signs of none connections, (AS in where it was obvious to put them, in both wires and coolant hoses) Knowing that the leh sits closer to the front of the engine bay, Having to cut a recess in the bumper etc.
RIGHT the engine starts great, runs, tick over n no flutters, no excess, lovely quiet engine, great! FAns come on and remain On, no xcess fumes, revs up, (vxr actuater has been adjusted)
After a few tests i took the car out on the road, EEK! nawty i know, and all seems to be fine with the gearbox/ clutch/ brakes/ OH i forgot to mention i put a brand new steering rack complete as a matter of course,(just had it at hand realy) wow!! evry thing seems good there,
BUT the car will not go/ accelerate/ boost etc etc It was as fast as my lawnmower, Ha MAYBE LIMP MODE YA!!
On the good side all electiks work, lots of warning lights on the dash but WHAT IVE DONE:
Because i never give up! Replace the cts, also the coolant module, also the thermostat, ALL GM PARTS, also replaced the interior clocks ( i got a set of black ones with silver rimms, love them) gonna put led white light in them, and look fantastik, i hate the white dials,
SO i have now gone an ordered a fault diagnostik scanner opcom 09,
I have sercummed to the conclusion, that techno has got the better of me, and will possibly give in to it,
Maybe, altho my knowledge is limited, I think the eng ecu has retained the original engine blowout perhaps ? and has too be cleared etc
All i know is now its up to the technobods!
If you understand this then your a genius
ANY SUGGESTIONS WELCOME
I only want to get my temp sensor working, i think the prob is in that department
What do you think?, thats if ya havn't fallen to sleep before now,
