When sending Paypal dont send as a gift

Just thought I would give people a heads up/reminder not to send payments as a gift unless your 100% sure who they are.

If you do send as a gift your not covered if you dont receive your goods.

Found this site which works out how much you need to pay extra so the seller gets the ammount they want and you pay the charges so that your covered.

IE seller wants £100 you need to send £103.73

    Hope this helps: www.rolbe.com/paypal.htm

Yeh I've always thought it was dodgy that people would want you to use gift to pay for things, just to cover the listing cost.

You don't need a dedicated site to work it out. It tells you how much it cost on the second tab on the opening page of paypal before you even log on. Personal transfers cost 3.4% + 20p

    So let's say....

You buy an item off here from a member
Send the money, but not as a gift (can't remember what it's called. Goods or something)
Member takes your money, you either 1. get no item or 2. it genuinely gets lost in the post

What do you do to reclaim costs? Can you do anything?
