    its a common occurance for the handbrake shoes/pads to stick ...ie overnight..and release with a clunk as you pull off..more so when temp is low or its wet..my rear ,handbrake operated pads do it, very often...

    you may benefit from a new set of shoes with a new spring return kit and apply brake grease to all pivot and backplate/shoe points that move, also clean up and grease the adjuster bar
