    anyone asap

    am have brought a set of rims off ebay for my astra sxi and the size is 17 7j. whats the best size tyes for these as i should get them in the next couple of days and not sure?? i was thinking 225/25/17 is this right or are they 2 small??

    As long as the offsets ok on the rim the best size tyre to get for the MK4 will be 215/40/17

    Offset has nothing directly to do with tyre size.

    38mm isn't too bad, depending how much the car is lowered 215/40/17 would probably be the best choice. You 'may' get away with 215/45/17 if you prefer a chunkier tyre (better on the MK4 if you ask me) and also a slightly more subtle ride than the lower profile 40's.

    hi guys ive been running 215/40/17 on my astra no rubs or scrapes nice ride hope this helps.

    I would say offset has something to do with tyre sizes because if it's to far out then you can still get away with using the same rims but with a different size tyre

    test fit a wheel and see how far out it sticks. if its pretty much inline with the wheel arch, go for 215/40/17 if it sits further in, you could probably get away with 215/45/17 but your speedo may be out slightly as the recommended tyre size on the astra for 17 wheels is 215/40/17
