swaping engines from 1.4 to 1.6 wots needed?

hi can anyone tell me what i would need to change from a 1.4 16v(x14xe) to a 1.6 16v(x16xe). ano one of the ecu's have to be changed is there anymore ecu's? also what about gearbox, driveshafts n hubs etc. the 1.6 16v is being cammed when i find a good kit.then opefully change of inlet manifold n throttle body n having it remaped. any places where i can find a cam kit and other parts from? this would help me out alot. project to start when weather gets better n daylight better. thanks ppl

Is this for a project like track car?
    Or just engine conversion?
Not sounding daft, but you do know the powere gains and performance are hardly anything at all
My thoughts would be pop down scrappy for bits, what is need i wouldnt have a clue im afraid

The engine mounts are the same, ancillaries such at the alternator, starter motor

Gearboxes line up the same, 1.4's have an F13 box, 1.6's have f17 boxes but they're identical and mate up

As for power outputs 1.4's have 90bhp and 1.6's of X series are 98bhp, power gain is negligible

agreed. I tried for a bit to get serious power gains from my 1.6 and gave up at 130bhp.

If you get an inlet manifold (I have one for sale ), an exhaust manifold and a decent exhaust youre looking at the 130bhp I had. With cams and a map it should see just over 150bhp. Even with 130bhp mine would more than happily pull on all the non turbo mk4s up to 90mph but after that the 2.2s would pull back on me.

As for the swap the 1.4 and 1.6 are physically the same so take the 1.4 out, put the 1.6 in and the job's a gudn. If you get the x16xe you will have to change the engine loom and ecu over and I have no idea how interchangeable they are. If you get the x16xel you can swap the engine over and IIRC the loom can be kept the same. You will still need the x16xel ecu, chip and transponder. Again, I have these for sale so if you need them give me a shout
It would definitely go better with an engine in it
