    Exhaust manifolds... 1.4 & 1.6...??

Just before I kick off with a breakers yard, can anyone confirm to me that a 1.4 16v and 1.6 16v exhaust manifolds are of the same 'manicat' type - both from z14xe of z16xe engines???

I've just received one that is the manifold only and has no cat - which I suspect to be wrong.

    thanks in advance,

    andy

By the sounds of things mate you've got a X series one in your hands

I am pretty sure the exhaust outputs/manifold mounting area are identical on 1.6's and 1.4's

Thanks - thats what I'm thinking!

Bit of a story really - I contacted him asking him for a z16xe a couple of weeks ago, which he replied £45. But in the meantime I got one from a local scrappy, which when a week later I check properly turns out to be cracked..!!

I contact ebay man again about the £45 one and get no reply.
I then email him again asking if he has any for a Z16xe - yes, hes says - £95!!!!

I notice he's also selling one from a 1.4 16v, so get a mate to ask him what engine its from - z14xe he replies!!!

I buy it and an 'X' series turns up!

    phew.....!

Just want to get my facts right before I contact him again!!

Personally I say not, as the old X series came with the black edges around the silver plastic cover, but then again its only a plastic cover, anyone can change one. The only surefire way to see if it is a Z series, is the big manicat, or an electric throttle body.

This is what a Z series looks like

    Thanks Tom,

Good point about the cover - I just thought that the black bits were just indicating a 1.4.
But he did confirm on Friday to my mate that it was from a z14xe engine, so I'll email him now and see what happens.

I've read it wrong - he did, in fact, say it was from a x14 engine!!!
