    Another coilover question

I've decided my car needs lowering and coilovers are a possibility. The issue is all the ones I look at seem to say they will lower up to say 60mm but my question is, do coilovers have a minimum amount they lower by?

I'd probably only want to go down 20-30mm if that. The ones I was looking at were on LMF and they would be for a coupe turbo if that makes a difference.

Coilovers do have a minimum that they lower by but its usually about 20mm from standard susoension but as you have a turbo they are usually about 10 to 20mm lower than a stanard model anyway a coilover should see between 20 to about 80mm just dependant on which brand you go for

So if I was to fit a set of coilovers which were wound up(?) to the top, my car would effectively be at the same height it is now?

Dependant upon how much lower your car is than a standard set up technically it should lower to about the same when wound like if you were going to lower it 40mm it would probably only give you about 30mm drop if you know what I mean anyway if your goin with the coilovers you will have the choice to adjust it once there on

Aah right, so say my car is 10mm lower as standard and I set the coilovers to say a 30mm drop, the car would only actually go 20mm lower?

I want to be able to have my car at say 20mm lower than what it is now, so say 30mm drop. I guess it'll just be a case of adjusting once the coilovers are fitted?

Yeah that's it, if you rang vauxhall they should be able to tell you how much lower it is as standard then you will always have to allow that drop when replacing it with aftermarket parts

    Okay, cheers.

I'll no doubt be ordering some coilovers in the next month or so.

buxball has some coilovers for sale atm which imo are a bargain, and good as no messing about swapping bits from original shocks before fitting such as those on ebay

I was looking at getting these, mainly because they come with a 2 year warranty and being LMF I know I'll get great service.

Fitting wouldn't be a problem, I'd like to think I would be able to do it myself easy enough as with most things on my car.
