    knocking over bumps

for the last few months my gsi has been knocking from the front when going over bumps , iv jacked it up and cant see any signs of what could be causing the noise , how hard are the antiroll bar rubbers to change ?
first thing i will try is a new set of drop links but as i cant see any movement in them with the car jacked up im not sure its them causing my problem , the gsi is o4 with 45k on the clock so im hoping it isnt a fault with the suspension itself

Drop links are the most common cause. Next to that I would assume the other options to consider are the other ball-joint components so the track rod ends and the wishbone could be contenders, as all of these ball joints can wear and knock over time. I had the drop links replaced a year or two back and it really tightened up the front end, then a year on had the track rod ends done and this removed all the slight knocks etc from the setup.

Mine is similar. Not being very mechy minded myself, I took it to local garage, who lifted it up, but couldn't see anything obvious. They did off to change the drop links, but since they couldn't see anything wrong with them, they couldn't guarantee it would fix the clonking. I just left it, but yeah it is quite disconcerting, particularly over speed bumps.

im wanting to get mine sorted as it seems to be getting worse , i cant see any play in anypart with the car jacked so will have to go down the elimination route starting with the droplinks

Hi there I have the same problem with my Astra mk4 sri I have changed the suspension all around and the drop links and I am still getting a loud thud so I hope it's not the subframe bushes as its a big job to do any ideas plz

Could it be your strut tops? Much easier to fix than the subframe bushes.
