    Transponder question

Got a 2001 astra diesel ecu light flashing which is immobiliser problem, i suspect the reader around the ign barrel is dodgy so am going to replace this first

question is, are these coded to the ecu as a set or can i get one off the same engined astra with correct part number?

    cheers

    chris

If you have the security code for your engine ECU you can program a different transponder reader with Tech2/Opcom

You'll need the security code from the donor reader, to program the reader for a different chip.

I thought the reader itself wasnt coded just the transponder key...?

If you've got a local op-com owner or tech2 they'll be able to see if the car is detecting a key or not to save the hasstle before you start work and test if its picking up or denying...
N.b. any opinitons expressed above should be ignored and considered 'ramblings', under no circumstances should they be relied upon...
