Avatar - turbo Scott - Review

    Avatar + IMAX + 3D =

    Awesome

Really is nice to be proved wrong and see something so different and well done.

Only crit - Motion blur and ghosting in places, but more than forgivable due to the experience.

Couldn't agree more, that film literally took my breath away!! Bit of an issue in scenes with the blurring I agree, but you hardly notice it!

Loved it so much I saw it another 2 times

Tried to watch it at IMAX, but was sold out everywhere, even though we tried about 3, so had to settle for normal 3D.

Thought it was an enjoyable film, but at over 3hrs 20mins, abit long really! Was getting a bit restless towards the end!

Agreed - I've never had a good experience with any 3D movie, although I haven't seen Avatar yet.

Until they improve the 3D technology and remove the need for awkward glasses and irradiate all motion blur and generally improve the clarity, contrast and definition of the image, then 3D movies are almost unwatchable for me and certainly not enjoyable.

Also 3D movies don't seem to be as good as they used to be. Years ago the first 3D movies would really make you jump and some things stood out so far you thought you was going to get hit in the face! Nowadays everything seems to be only slightly 3D and closer to a normal 2D experience, unless I have just been watching the wrong movies?

    The movie is only 162mins long (2hrs 42mins) not over 3hrs 20mins.

The ghosting is due to the way IMAX processes the 3D image, the same goes for the motion blur. If you watch the movie in RealD , you'll notice these problems are fixed but the movie loses some of its vibrance and brightness. If you watch it in Dolby 3D then it fixes those problems but you still miss out on the huge IMAX screen. Oh and some IMAXs process the 3D image better than others it seems, some keep the 3D glasses in good condition too.

However it was awesome and was the best movie of the decade, I'll watch it again in 3D before it leaves the cinema and is replaced by some same old Tim Burton crap.

    Awesome film.

Seen it twice in 2d and once in 3d so far.

Need to find an Imax near me to see it in one of them too!
