    The Rebuild continues

The rebuild of my redtop engine has been uber-slow in recent months. I had the block rebored ages ago but never got any further than that, mainly due to getting christmas out of the way and other bits and bobs that neededing attending to.

So today i picked the block up from the cleaners. It's been derusted and acid cleaned, then phosphate coated and oiled. It's pretty much immaculate now, there's the odd tiny spot of flash rust here and there but they will soon be gone. Then i popped to the shed at work and collected my engine stand ready for the job.

Also picked up my core plug and oil canal plugs, to add to the POR-15 and Metal-Ready i had delivered before Christmas. So now i can make some sort of progress. Just got myself an oil pick-up pipe for £20 too so i'm just getting parts here and there

Ordered a bottom end gasket kit yesterday so that should be here on tuesday. Then I can mask up for paint.

Need to make a blank for the sump as I don't need the oil level sensor, and don't have one to leave disconnected.

Still unsure which oil pump i require early/late type, but i managed to pick up an oil pickup pipe for £20 this week. That is soaking in some diesel until my mate can sonic clean it for me.

Apparently I may have to tweak the baffle slightly as when using a bonded gasket instead of the twin corks and running ARPs, the bolt heads may foul on the baffle.
