yes i would have thought it would fail, as its telling you there's a fault with the airbag system, have a look under the seat to see if anythings come loose, but it will need resetting by tech2 or opcom

You'll be fine, the airbag system isn't part of the mot.

It is usually the connection under the seat like Windrew said ,
And I'm pretty sure it's an MOT fail as I'm sure I've seen on a fail sheet

Yeah I know it's a safety item but it's not a testable item for the mot. I'm a tester myself. You can call vosa and ask if you like.

They are trying to get the airbag system part of the mot but for now it's not.

There are no checks at all on airbags as part of the MOT Test.

It should get an advise only, but won't fail. As has been said, try resetting it first. Disconnect the battery for 30mins or take it into the dealer and ask them to clear the fault. If it won't clear, then there is a fault in the system that needs rectified. Airbag warnings are similar to trip switches, the light won't go back off on it's own so even a minor glitch which is no longer there will keep the light on untill it's reset.

As for being tight on cash, if there is a genuine fault and the airbag isn't working... you could regret not choosing to investigate it if you have an accident. For all it costs, it's worth getting it checked for your own safety.
