Personally write offs don't bother me too much providing work has been carried out to a decent standard, half the problem is some have been bodged together.

It is concerning though when people are selling a car and trying to hide its history!

Isn't it illegal to with-hold such information if you actually know it has been a write off at some point?

Mind me asking why your looking at another astra? thinking of letting the GSI go?

Happened to me mate, bought a car at a place in Anniesland, Glasgow. Only paid £875 for it, red Mk3.

Seemed fine at first. As the months past by, I started to notice loads of creaks and unusual stuff. and the paint on a few doors showed up a bad match to the rest of the car aswell.

Handled like a dodgy shopping trolley.

Wasn't until i used it as a trade in i was informed it had been a Cat C.

Will always have a car checked out in future.

Glad for you that you did those checks, as you say, well worth it!

For those asking, IT IS ILLEGAL not to inform a prospective buyer of a write off

The current owner may not be aware that it is a Cat-C seeing as they purchased it in Oct 09, and it was written of in Aug 09. They might simply not know about it.

Anybody else notice something about the passenger door? It is lacking its SXi badge, whereas the drivers door, it is still on there.
