My diff shat itself all over the place on thursday, so yes I am in need of a new box, but ain't sure which to go for. Spoke to Dannysport18 the other day ( great lad ) and he suggested the F17 gearbox as it is much stronger.
I now know that there are a few boxes used on mk4's. F13 used on 1.4 16v motors, F15 used mainly on mk4 1.6 8v's and F17's used on 1.6 and 1.8 16v's.
Now is the F17 gearbox going to be a straight bolt onto my 1.4 16v block? I know they're rod driven so thats good. Just not 100% sure if they line up perfectly to my block. I read in the Haynes manuals, that they're slightly different regards to the driveshafts, drivers side being different aswell.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
