Hot water. I poured hot water over slowly and the lettering peeled off. Didnt even need a card. AS for removing the sticky residue, try to get a adhesive remover.

two methods to use mate either the hot water with some dental floss close to the paint should get all badges off in 10 mins, (did for me), but might get shot down for this as it can shock your paint so only advice would be to do this method on a warm day,
Other method is the hairdryer and credit card, heat up the badge and slowly pry of with card.

I used a hairdrier to warm up and melt the adhesive, then use an old credit card to slide underneath the letters to remove them from the bodywork. Then, once the letters are off, then hot water and a sponge rubbing over the sticky stuff.

Once all of the residue is off, then just polish the bootlid up with polish of your choice.

TBH, as long as you don't use anything sharp, its not going to damage the bodywork. An old points card from Tesco will do the trick, no need to use a screw driver/scraper etc.

Hot water, national insurance card, done. Just remember and keep the bodywork lubricated or you may scratch your paint.

I used a hairdryer to warm the glue and then they peeled of. Didnt damage the paint and just give the area a good polish after.

The vauxhall griffin is clipped on so there will be two little holes if you remove this but all the lettering is just glued on. I would go with astra mark's method of heating up the lettering with a hairdryer.

I think there's a how-to knocking about somewhere on how to remove the badges using the other (credit card) method.
