    Power Sounder woes...

    Hi all,
Anyone help me with this little prob?

I bought a new PS and replaced it as it was going off all the time i started the engine... then really bugged me when it went off during the night hours.
All's been okay for the last month but now it's going off again when i start the engine.
I've tried all the battery tests (charging, load test, etc.) and all seems ok...

But after leaving the Zaf for 3 days i checked the load-free voltage and it came up as 12.04 volts.

Now my Multimeter says anything less than 12.4 would class the battery as only 25% okay... in other word dying a slow death.

Would a new battery fix the PS problem?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

How can a 12 volt battery be 25% ok at 12.04v, doesn't make sense!

Alot of the time I go to my car after it's been left for a few days and it's showing 11.5v yet I have no alarm or starting issues. I suggest that you could have a 2nd problem with the alarm

a battery did it for me when mine was doing that. I put a voltmeter on my dash and used to watch it when cranking, if it dropped below 10 the battery connect siren would go off. Fought with VX for 2 years when in warranty over this then gave up and bought a new battery. been fine for about 2 years

sorry you are wrong there, as said in the next post, the noise he is hearing is the battery diosconnect siren,

When the alarm goes off you get the sounder and a second horn going off. When the battery is disconnected or is low and you make a sudden large demand the siren only goes off

fella says he replaced the ps already

Thumbs Up Thanks to all help!

    Hi guys,
Many thanx to all of you on this...
The voltage level of a battery 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, etc.) is on a chart to indicate the condition of the battery...
Everytime i checked it read 12.04 v - the chart indicating the battery condition was 25% - either needed a full charge or new battery needed.

I opted for the new battery (as my partner works for Halfords got one trade price).
I've now fitted a calcium battery but not a standard one. The Zaf one was a starting cranking amps of 480 so opted for a bigger battery with 640 cranking amps.
    Result?
No problems with PS and the engine turns over quicker and not sluggish as before...

...but will keep you informed as such.
