    Question am i wrong?

hi all, unfortunatly, ive had to buy a second hand engine for the car, as mine was frigged i was under the impression that mine was a twinport. however, the scrapyard said that twinport wasnt introduced until 04/05. my car is a 52plate, 03 registered astra mk4 1.6 sxi 16v. not particularly bothered like. mine has 80k on it. the one thats going to go in, has only 55k. which is a bit of a bonus. just hope its going to be okay, as its costing around the £700 altogether for fitting aswell.. cheers, andy.

well yes... and no... the original engine, when i bought the car, i bought a warranty, and had to get it serviced after 6k or 6 month. to keep the warranty running. didnt manage to get that far. and the new engine, comes with a 30 day 'trial', so in other words, ill have to ring the warranty complany up and clarify that thers a new engine. wonder what theyll say to that lol.

Hold on why are you getting a second hand engine fitted when you have a warranty on the car ? ,
this is what you have paid for in the event of a mechanical breakdown they pay for the repair at a VAT registered garage using new parts not second hand part's

Oh right , then I wouldn't bother telling them you've put another engine in ,
because if the company is that bad to deal with they would be even more difficult in future as you have now used second hand parts ,
I personally don't see anything wrong with that at all as I have had many engine's from scrap/written off cars,

Did you try to make a warranty claim when the engine died ?

Don't think a twinport will work with your existing ECU, as it'll not be controlling the twin-port functionality...could be wrong...

yeah thats what i was thinking.
yeah i did ttry, they wanted to dismantle my engine, and find exactly whats wrong with it, and by the time that was done. the warranty amount (£300) disgraceful, but i wasnt told) wud be of no use, and wud probably run up a hgher cost than a new/second hand engine. in two minds on what to do with the car know, i imagine it will be fine, just a psychological effect knowing that your car has died lol.
