    Running Temperature

    Hello all,
I'm a newbie Astra owner, bought myself a 1.6 life twinport on a 56 plate last weekend.
Everything was fine until the engine warning light came on weds morning! Booked it into garage to be looked at this morning (Fri). Warning light has now turned itself off and the garage has said they can't do anything without the light on.
The main thing i've noticed is the heater isn't warming up very much at all, I've also found out the running temp isn't getting up above 60 deg. Is this a problem, if so is it easily sorted by myself?

Many thanks in advance for any help recieved.

You can try the pedal test to see if any fault codes show up and your temp issue points towards a failed thermostat.

Push the brake and accelerator pedal down together, then turn the key till the lights come on. your trip meter will then display an ecn number which relates to any faults.
