    Wing mirrors

    Just noticed another wee problem....

It's with the electric wing mirrors this time! I can move them left, right and up but pressing down seems to do nothing.

Any ideas? It's a 1998 MK4 Astra if that's any help? I was wondering if it was maybe a dodgy switch?

    Thanks in advance

If it effects both sides i'd say it's the switch. Older vauxhalls suffer alot from dodgy mirrow switches

Aye it's affecting both sides. I figured it might be a faulty switch, just wanted to get a second opinion.

I'm guessing it doesn't cost too much for a replacement switch and it isn't too tricky to fit it?

Failing that, i'll have a look at the wiring.

    Thanks guys.

No idea on cost but it's easy enough to replace. Just pop the old one out and slot a new one in

Sound, just had a quick look on eBay and it's about £15. Might check the scrappies as well to see if they are any cheaper.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated

Another quick question folks - when i'm removing the old electric mirror switch, is it easy enough to prise out (carefully!) with a couple of flat head screwdrivers or is it best to remove the entire door card first?

Gonna have a wee scout at the scrappies and see about picking one up tomorrow

they pop out no problem normally, no need to remove the whole card, if you cant remove it for some reason just remove the whole door handle cover and prise it out

    UPDATE!

Just got a replacement mirror switch off eBay. Popped the old one out, fitted my new one and it works! Nice to be able to see what's happening on the passenger side of the car now.

Thanks again to everyone for all the input
