    have all mk4 astras got abs

    some muppet pulled out in front of me today and the road was like a sheet of ice.i put the brakes on and just slid,i ended up pumping the brakes and doing the hand brake as well just to stop in time.

    i dont get a abs light come on when i switch the ignition on.

    my cars a 1999 saloon 1.6 8v.

    No, ABS is not standard. You'll know you have it if the ABS light on the dash comes on for a few seconds when you start the engine.

    ABS is one thing I wish my car had, but it just means you have to play with your car more to understand how it behaves under heavy braking.

    If it does (pull to the side), then check calipers are free and easy, pads and discs are even etc.. finally check for even wear on tyres....

    if any of the above are well out then that could lead to the pulling
