    Head Units

    Hi,

Just got an astra coupe, and fitted my FLI swat 5 head unit, but the cd changer and steering wheel controls don't work with it which i understand adaptors and connectors etc. But i was wondering if there any adaptors and connectors i can get to work with this head unit. If not can anyone recomend one i can get which work with the cd changer and steering wheel controls and also has an aux in for my ipod and gfs mp3 player.

    Thanks

Thanks. What alpine, kenwood sony etc head units will they work on? The CD changer isn't very important but as i got it might as well use it. The AUX in with two pre outs is what im looking for on my head unit mainly.

When looking at the specs of a head unit look for a phrase like "Steering Wheel Control Ready" or "Steering Wheel Control Compatable".
You will then need to get an Astra specific adaptor lead plus another lead to match the make of head unit e.g. Pioneer or Alpine to get the controls working.
The CD changer will only work with the original Vauxhall supplied OEM head unit, there are no adaptors available to make it work with anything else.

is this the adapter everyone is talking about?

With this plus a head unit specific adapter (ie for clarion) will that connect to this?

The bit we are looking for on that headunit is this

OEM steering wheel remote wired interface capability
So with that adaptor and the clarion patch lead all should be good

Been looking at other things for my car as i've gotten rid of my old 6x9s as no parcel shelf etc. So just wanna run a few things i'm thinking of doing for my sound system.
Going to use the fli loaded 400s and 12" sony xplode sub in the boot.
And then for speakers in door and rear, thinking using two of these http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/prod...04_p-25180.htm
one under drivers seat and one under passengers running new sound cables to the speakers upgrading them to some keenwoods for what ever size the current ones are. What would i do with the tweeters, think i spotted soemthing about a xover.
Head unit i've found has the steering control bit i need but also says about cd changer controller.
    http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/prod...4u_p-23984.htm
I think thats all i'll need, but i'm open up to suggestions things i could change or replace, listen to mainly rock and metal music as that may change coice on equipment.
Oh i would prefer the speakers and stuff kenwood, got a thing for them i guess lol, too much need for speed underground when i was a kid.

    Thanks

Firstly i'd be surprised if you can safely get those amps under the seat, there's hadly any room so they will stick out and once people get in the back they are likely to ge damaged

Speaker wise both sets would be great in the front but no ideal in the back as you need a 2 way speaker with the tweeter in the middle of the cone
