    Indicators not ticktocking

    Hi guys.
My cigarette lighter fuse blew, so I borrowed the one from the rear washer (same voltage) so I could charge up my satnav. Got in the car, drove to the end of my road, and the seatbelt bleepers came on like normal. Within 20 minutes of reaching my destination, the indicators failed to make the ticktock noise from the dash, the seatbelt bleeper no longer bleeps and the key in ignition warning sound does not go when you open the drivers door.

Any ideas what I have done wrong here?

    The car is a mk5 04 1.6 ecotec astra 65k

    Hmm strange problem.

All the noises can be controlled by a tech 2 machine.

do not think it has anything to do with your fuse.
if you get a diagnostic machine onto it you can see what has happened to your sounds.

Maybe I could do the thing with the pedals and ignition and see if any error codes display?
Every so often it seems to attempt to make the noise and you hear a strained beep but then it stops lasts for a second or two. Kind of like a scratchy sounding "beeeee" as opposed to the usual clear sounding "beeeeep"

This sounds expensive if I need tech2 connected.

Also it seems very suspicious this happened so soon after I had been looking at the fuse box in the boot. And I am guessing in order to make the noise through that speaker, there must be a fuse somewhere for it.

well yes it is a little funny but as far as i know the noises are controlled by the canbus system in the dials so if there was going to be a fuse that blows it would be the one for the entire dials. The screechy noise sou ds to me like a loose connection of some sort. maybe some wires have come loose at some point.

If you want to be doubly sure then you can check all the fuses in the fuse box and the check the wiring behind the dials.

Worst case senario take it to vauxhall and they can plug in the tech 2 machine to see what the problem might be.

    Thanks for your reply mate.
I have just been down to a neighbour who has an elete. Mine is a design so nearly the same. Took a pic of his fuse board and then mine. I have just loaded them up on the pc. Lucky I have dual screen.
It looks like I have put a 10amp in one slot too far to the left. That could be causing some kind of problem. There is supposed to be a 10a in 20 which is for something called CDC?
But I seem to have put my 10 in the next one along which is a blank one on the fuse book. Its currently in slot 19 rather than 20

I hope when I put this back it will work.

Ah ok I have just changed 20 back to 19 and the rear view mirror is now working. So I am half way there. But indicators etc still not working. I should have tried this in day light but to be honest its so dark in the boot anyway and my torch was not too bright.

Think I am going to have to have a recheck of the fuse board tomorrow. If anyone has a design 04 or 05 with none of the faults I have and would mind taking a pic of their fuse box and sending me it, I would be very grateful.

Yeah check tomorrow and keep us updated.

also can i be the first to say DOH!!!!! :P

as long as the CDC does not require a 5A fuse or less then you should be ok.

fuses are just a fail safe incase too much current runs around the wires.
