i had this problem with our 106, i basically had to plate the rear bumper with aluminium sheeting to stop it getting any worse,

depends on how you can fix it on really, since the 106 was a runaround/toy i never really bothered how it looked so a little bit of aluminium showing at the back was no big deal to me

depends how much has melted away etc... if theres something you can attach it too underneath then it wont show up as easily, (i.e the flat part of a splitter etc)

    Any pictures of the bumper?

is the backbox hitting the bumper??

I have the Remus twin 3" on my GSi and never suffered any melting problems and one of the pipes is literally welded to the rear splitter, (it doesnt sit in the cut out whereas the other one does)

i had this with my standard system after i put my irmscher splitter on the back, took it to my local garage and they just bent the hanger arms down a bit, dropped the whole back box by a couple of inches
