Lightbulb air filter help or advice.

    i own a mk4 1.8 sri 5 door.
at the moment i have a full stainless exhust , race tube and a inducion kit fitted.
would i be better of putting the old air box back on or getting a 1.9cdi one for it with a vectra c pipe and a uprated air filter?
if so whats best panel filter to use?
or keep it as it is?
it sounds realy nice but buy the back box it looks like its running rich or over fueling.

what is an exhust and an inducion kit?. i would take the inducion kit off as it is most likely upsetting you airflow meter and causing heat and fueling issues if is open cone. put the standard box back on with the vec 'c' pipe and a standard paper element from vauxhall. this gives good cold air feed with a large and safe surface filtering area

Induction kits and uprated pannel filters do VERY little for performance mate, 1 or 2 bhp if that,

Is it a cone type induction kit ??
If so, either make sure it has a heat shield between it and the engine ... or put original airbox back on with a filter...

Can't see them being a problem for overfueling though.
Most vauxhalls run a little 'rich' anyway....

even my vxr exhaust has black carbon on it...

If the cars running fine, then you;ll just have to keep it cleaner more regularly

A modern car won't overfuel by simply adding a non genuine filter assembly, there are so many H.S.E back emission controls on a car these days that the car will always compensate. Only issues you may suffer is that the silicone spray used on "wet" panel filters can sometimes lead to air flow meter issues and non insultaed cone filters can sometimes cause the intake temperature sensors to have a hissy fit.

Derestricting the airbox may help and as has been said, a panel filters might see you gain a bhp or something but really in the bigger scale of thinsg I'd be debating how much you'll actually achieve on a 1.8. Bear in mind the increased air flow a cheapy cone filter brings is probably outweighed by its piss poor filtration abilities.

    In my opinion, obviously...
