Unhappy no warniing lights. help please

    hello all

right iv had this problem and just want to get to the bottom of it now, so really any knowledge you lot have would be much appreciated.

to keep it simple i have no warning lights, ie, engine managment light and battery light and all the others, all i have is the oil light, i took it too vauxhall and they said it was bulbs blown, they change the bulbs, the problem was still there, they swapped the clocks to a donor car and my clocks work, but just not in my car.

they said it may be the ecu?

the eml light does come on, but its sooo dim and like its not there. then it goes off.

my alternator failed a while back and so did the battery, i had them replaced and thats when the warning lights didnt come back on.

vauxhall told me that when the alternator failed, its sum how messed up the ecu, resulting in no warning lights.

they want £280 to check the wiring off the car to make sure everythings in its place.

    anyone have any ideas. thanks

Does your car still run? and is it just the bulbs that are not working, or is the engine dead also?

Every light shares the same fuse with is number 13 under the dash

To also add usually when there's no battery light when you first switch the ignition on this means the battery won't be charging

I'm thinking there could be broken wires on the engine wiring harness, could be lucky and they are up by the connectors near the battery

To save me searching myself what age is your astra and what engine do you have?

Is it just engine and battery lights (maybe coolant too?) Take in all the lights and foglight warnings work?

    my astra is a 1.6 16v 1999. its the X16XEL engine.

its all the warning lights, battery, eml, coolant. the only 1 which works is the oil light,
the eml does come on, but its very very very faint. and then it goes off as it should when engine starts. the foglight and indicators warning lights all work. =/.

thanks for trying to help , really appreciate it.

Sounds like a set of faulty clocks, maybe a burn up on thr circuit board.

Try checking the fuse I mentioned above as every warning light is controled by that, unfortunatly it doesn't explain why the oil pressure light works though

I am certain this isn't going to be a ECU fault though

How are you with car electrics? Where in the country are you also incase someone local can help
