    hand brake adjustmet

Just changed the rear shoes on my 1.7dti estate (53 plate) I backed off the auto adjusters to let me get the drums back on but after reassembly the hand brake hasn't self adjusted to where it should be. Will it correct itself in time or is there something I can do in the mean time, thanks
    T

they never adjust automatically, what you need to do is take car for short drive to bed the shoes to the drum then manually adjust the adjusters by turning the adjuster wheels a couple of clicks at a time which will mean on/off with the drum until you can hear the drum rub slightly when turning it. each turn of the adjuster wheel should be followed by a press of the brake pedal to centralise the shoes, with the drum on of course or the pistons will pop right out
