    Unhappy Clutch replacement cost

    Hi,

I have been informed by VX that I need a new clutch plate fitting at 20k miles to my 57 plate 1.6Turbo. Its squeaking when lifting the clutch in 1st and reverse under load.

Has anyone had one replaced yet? They havent quoted for it and I wondered how long it takes and how much.

    Any help is appriciated.

    Thanks

I had a new clutch and flywheel fitted to my coupe turbo at 50k and is already making hell of a noise from the thrust bearing and only just hitting 67k now and that was £ 980 ish i think but was done under warranty
had car mapped at around 53k

nobody can agree what is causing the noise on mine. one dealer says its the friction plate, another cant hear it and everyone else thinks its the release bearings.

VX think its normal for a clutch friction plate to wear out at 15000 miles.

Since VX head office are ignoring me, I think im gonna have to get it done and hope its the bearings or flywheel as thats under warranty.

they should first get authority off you to strip gearbox to check clutch if its then shown to be warranty only call you shud get is to say car is ready. once stripped if its deemed wear and tear they will ask u for authority fro the work. regardless what they find they shud have to speak to vx to get a case number from technical dept.

well thats pretty much how it goes at my work lol

they never discussed it actually, just said that it wasnt warranty and that its normal for a clutch to be worn out at 15000 miles.

Its got worse over the past 7000 miles so i really need to get it done. its really annoying because the clutch works fine, apart from the noise.
