From your other posts about fitting a alarm you really should have a multimeter to test the wires!

Black/red's starter if thats any help

i do but they all sit at 12.57v when testing against the wire on its own. When i turn once nothing changes, then on ignition, they all drop to 12.05v and one stays at 12.57v. Im completely confused, i presumed it would be 0v to 12v on each turn.

Which one is common at least?

(EDIT) - I presume common to be solid red, ill go check now. Cheers for starter info.

Thats impossible for them all to sit at the same voltage so either the meters faulty/ on the wrong setting or your not on a good earth

The solid red is thinner than the others and the accessory wire

Permament live is the fat black coming in from the top in the first diagram

    well im very confused now.

When i used the red as the common this is what i found:

All wires without power when ignition off.

When ignition on stage one/ACC, the black wire at the bottom would get 12v
On stage 2/ON, the two fat wires would get 12v on them
On stage 3/START the black/red would get 12v whilst the starter was on.

When the engine is running, all wires apart from start have 12v on them
The meter has been calibrated recently and its an ACT meter. over £100 worth so i hope its not faulty.

When you say common it sounds like your doing a resistance test on them

the are all going to test like that because once the key is turned they all join together

Trust me the one you have labled as acc is the battery live. Set your meter to DC volts, have the the common wire on the multimeter to a good earth point and put the other end of the meter onto the wires. You should find:

Wire you have labled as acc is battery live
Wire you have labled as com is accessory live
Wire you have labled as on is ignition live while cranking (the one alarms should go to for their +15)
Wire you have labled as starter is starter
Wire that you haven't labled is isnition live but not while cranking

    is was on DC test.

I tested them with short test, using the one you mentioned to be common as the common. All makes sense now.

When on ignition one, nothing changes (even the Accessory dosent, what is connected to this one?)
When it is on 2, both the fat black wires between acc and starter short to the battery live.
when it is on start, the red/black shorts.

im gonna check the accessory one again here i think my test leads are on their way out.

The two fat wires i labeled the 'on' label around the both of them.

I Presume the one closest to the accessory cable is the live but not when cranking, and the one closest to starter is the ignition live when cranking?

Ok when I first looked I thought "ON" was only on one of them

The one next to the red acc is the igniton live while cranking
