cars off to the body shop!

After a good 12 months of watching my poor Astra falling to bits on the rear wheel arch I finally got off my but to take her into a body shop. I got given a repair panel a long time ago, but never got the work done. Today though I went down to Oswestry Body Repair after seeing an add in a local newspaper, visiting their website etc. £120 for having the arch repaired as a cash job. I supply the panel, they cut out and weld it in, and apply some primer to stop it rusting worse, cant go wrong, and the best bit is. It's being done this afternoon and I'll have it back as well. Bonus!

sadly though It's still money I didn't really want to spend due to an upcoming holiday, but the car needed it as the rust had got really bad

They arn't doing all of the work, just cutting out the rot and welding in the panel, and sealing it, the rest I will do myself in the summer

thats a bugger mate. This has been going on for over a year, the arch was near complete when I had it, though still badly rusted. £400 is alot of money though and sadly rust isn't much ya can do about it really, appart from try and keep it at bay

Hopefully it wont get worse. But otherwise should be a simple job of stripping it back to bare metal, treating it with rust killer or metal oxide paint, prime and respray.

One the plus side, got me car back this afternoon, Jobs been all done and dusted, just need to perhaps put a lick of filler around it, or i could simply just use up the last of the paint I got for the bumper and spray it myself, Its two pack so doesnt need laquer, just time to go off or be baked

I am happy with what I got, it wasnt too bad and it looks alot better than what it did, it's also been sealed at the back, so shouldnt rust any more now

I'm sorry mate but I think they ripped you off a bit there , for £120 and you suplied the arch they should of at least sat it level with the arch and welded in place ,or at the very least steped it back instead of welding it ontop that probably took about half hour for £120 ,
that's going to take some blending in you will never realy hide it to be honest ,
I know youve got the end result of no rust but it anoys me when people get ripped off
