    help on p0400 fault code

The old chap has a mk 4 1.6 8v and has a hesitant problem and trouble hot starting. Got a code of 0400 with the pedal test, has anyone had this or can shed any light on it, thanks.

the only other problem off the top of my head with hot starting is the camshaft position sensor. but that has nothing to do with your fault code. if cleaning the egr valve doesnt work you can get one on ebay for about £65, i think its a delphi branded one?

    indeed it is

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-EGR-V...item2eaa781e71

100% Genuine as supplied by Vauxhall

tbh cleaning them is usually non productive and a replacement is needed

another option is an ECU update from Vauxhall using Tech2 which deletes the values of the EGR therefore no longer needed - the cost however may be more than a replacement unit - all depends what contacts u have at Vauxhall - if any

not avail for all engines but definitely available for your Z16SE

also having the same problem now . got away wih cleaning it 5 times but now its knackered.

atm i have it unplugged but was planning on blanking it off. Is there any bad points about fitting a blanking plate and just securing the egr somewhere so the pin can still move in and out?? is this a safe way to do it??

you can get an ecu upgrade from your dealer for it. i think it basically disables it. ask geordiebandit about it. he knows a lot more about this sort of stuff. sure he wont mind you sending him a pm
