    Unhappy Crash! :-(

Driving back from uni into brighton, some bright spark decided to do a u turn on a dual carriageway; the woman in front of me had to stop and i didn't notice in time... u can guess what happened next.
Anyway 'u-turn' s*ds off and i'm left in the middle of the road with a very dazed lady in her audi a3 with a ruined bumper and dented boot lid.... god help my insurance premium!

Anyway, limped it round the corner home, steam blasting out of the engine bay, just about made it before i lost all the coolant. Half an hour to get the bonnet open, then took the bumper off and its not looking good!
    # lower slam panel rammed into the rad
    # rad supports sheared off, coolant dumped / evaporated.
    # upper slam panel (where the bonnet catch is) bent down, bent this back though.
    # headlights donald ducked! xenons ok tho thank god!
    # bonnet buckled up
they aren't too bad because i can pick up parts from the scrappy, and fix myself but the one I'm most concerned about is:
    # where the lower slam panel is attached to the chassis there are the buckle zone buffers, under the headlights, one is mildly bent, the other had been well and truly crumpled back by about 5 or 6 inches, I've tried bending it out but to no avail.
Anybody else had this problem or fixed something like this?
I have a feeling it'll need a new one welding on on each side.
Does anyone know anywhere in the brighton area they would reccommend for the job or how much its likely to cost me?
    Sigh, I've had better days!

Yup, apparantly completely oblivious to the fact they'd caused an accident.
Sad that its kinda expected these days.

How do you do a u-turn on a dual carriageway wasn't there a barrier in the middle?

Maybe he means a 4 lane single carriageway?

Is it the chassis legs that are damaged, do you have pictures?

i've seen it by me.. theres a duel track i often use to get home from work and its a grass verge central res (prob about 10-15metres wide).. and about 1/4 the way down and its got a dropped curve .. its designed for the tractor mowers to get on and off to cut the grass.. but if the traffic his heavy.. which it sometimes is then, cars cut over it to go back towards the island at the end of it.. and i see many near misses due to people cutting across and back into the path of a on-coming vehicle

Bludshot had something similar, he bent the crumple zone and the bumper beam, they are easy to replace, the rest isnt so. He's your man if you need to go about replacing those parts.

As you happen to mention it though had a similar accident myself nearly 2 years ago, that was caused by someone else doing a dangerous maneuver in the middle of a busy road. Wrote my old 106 off good style.

Glad you're ok though and hopefully the car can be fixed. Are you going through insurance?
