air con and radiator fan coming on?

I have a 2004 MK1 Zafira and all seems ok, however noticed a while ago that if I have the air con on (use it to demist in the winter) and I am at tick over etc the cooling fan comes on, goes off when driving and this happens even if the car is cold? Odd one..any ideas folks
    Cheers Tony

Yeh pal, DO NOT USE air con 2 de-mist, just use normal blowers.

Aircon and blowers work on same loop so due to that fan will come on, and if on tickover
engine running warm so will kick in. its normal

Cheers for the reply. I do find though that with aircon on and heat set to high it seems to demist quicker, is there a reason not to use aircon for this then?

The cooling ECU (or engine ECU on later models) controls the fans based on Coolant Temperature and Air con pressure.

Perfectly normal for them to come on and off with the AC on.

It's not like older models, that ran the fans all the time the AC is on.

AC removes moisture from the air, so it is far better for demisting.

as mark said, but a bit better than me lol, I advise not to use AC to demist thou... as
    1- uses more fuel
2- If icy and really cold AC PUMP under pressure (warm engine fine)
3- Doesnt show a true temp reading as takes temp gauge down inside car for some reason

    thats it really...
