Fault codes P1120 and P1550 have returned

Back in October, the undernoted error codes came up, amongst others.

P1120 Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 1 High Input C-008
P1550 Electronic Throttle Control Reduced Power C-09 ...

They hadnt returned, so I cleared them, however I took off the throttle body anyway and gave it a good clean a few weeks ago.

Today I took the car for a 100 mile drive up to Perth and back and all was fine, however when taking the g/f home, i went over some ruts in the road and the spanner light, together with the esp light came on.

The above 2 codes came up again, no others were present. Now I've cleaned out the TB, so where do I go now? Will I need a new accelerator pedal or throttle body?

Any help appreciated, this is winding me up now

can you give some more details, how does the car drive, do you have reduced power at all. i am thinking that it will be the pedal sensor giving the problem and having a knock on effect on the throttle body, seen this a few times before

    Cheers Steve

Of the 3 or 4 times the faults have come up, the car drives fine and the lights go out once the ignition is turned off and on again, although the codes are stored.

However, the one other time, when accelerating onto a slip road, there was a sudden and momentary loss of power. A couple of seconds later normal acceleration was restored, however the lights were on. If iot wasnt for this I wouldnt really worry so much, but it was alarming.

I would normally just 'replace to eliminate' but as a new TB is the thick end of £250, I wanted to check whether it might be the pedal itself. Looks a simple unplug and undo 3 bolts kind of job fron Haynes.

from your symptoms, it is normally the pedal sensor that is the culprit and the dodgy signal that the sensor sends to the throttle body causes exactly what you experienced. normally when the throttle body fails it gives other issues as well. i would be tempted to replace the pedal unit first, but it's your money at the end of the day mate so your call.

Cheers Steve, appreciate that. I'll definetly be replacing the pedal unit first. I had a butchers at it tonight and it looks quite vulnerable sitting quite close to where my sturdy right boot sits lol. I'll pop along to Vauxhall and order one up on Saturday.

I had this problem before, but mine always kicked in going quite fast around roundabout. Took my TB out cleared it well all the air pipes out put it back in and hadn't had problem till last night so i guess ill just change pedal unit and report back.
