228mm rim, will need 225 tyres absolute minimum, so it's going to be tight.

215 tyres and it will be fine!

You may need to roll/flare your arches though

No need to run a 225 tyre, infact if you do you probably wont get these on your car. Fit the wheels with a 215 tyre.

AS for will it fit then, im not sure im afraid. What body style is it(hatch, estate, etc??) But a 9j with an et 42 with a spacer fits on a rear of a cabriolet.

Hi, im putting some porsche wheels on my van, the rears are 9j going for 215/35/18 on the front which are 7.5j and 225/40/18 on the rear. The 225's on the rear should stretch nicely enough to go under the arch, i also will need to space them out with a 25mm hub converter on the back and a 15mm on the front.
Thanx for the advice so far guy's anymore will be much appreciated

    what offset are the wheels?

a 9J with a 25mm hub adaptor and 225 tyres will not fit IMO

Most porsche rims are around ET 55 adding the hub adapator of 25 will make it ET30.

Its going to be very tight. I can see why you want to go for the 40 profile on the rear to obtain more stretch but you would be better going for a narrower tyre in a 35 profile to aid fitment.

You may need to fit camber shims on the rear to get the top of the tyre tucked under the arch.

What porsche wheels you going for?

How low are you running the car?

Hi mat, im currently running 18" 215/35/18's with about an 80mm drop. i have the a set of porsche boxster wheels the five spoke twist ones( got them for a bargain to the current wheels i have on are either 35 offset or 43 offset, ive not checked them yet to determine the exact converters for thickness that i require.
The wheels i have on at the moment are spaced out at the rear on hub centric apacers already by 15mm and the fronts by 5mm, im guessing the wheels must be 43mm offset as to why they sit in so much hence the spacers im currently running. i have taken the arch lips on the rear back by 10to15mm to allow more clearence. once i check the wheels for offset i will be able to determine which thickness converters i will need.
I was thinking of trying 215/35/18's on the 9j rears but am a little worried about safety for going that streched
I really appreciate the advice that im getting on this..

This link may be useful for working out differences in clearance for different offsets and with adaptors.

215/35/18s on a 9j will be fine, i run exactly the same on mine as a daily driver, no safety issues at all
