    Thermostat problem

    Could Some one give me advice please when changing my thermostat on my astra sri 1.8 16v when putting the housing on one of the torq bolts that hold the housing on has stripped the thread (not on the bolt on the hole the bolt screws in too) how would could this be fixed?

    Not good mate, it will need redrilling.
    Search Helicoil.

    If you have limited space then you may need the head off for better access

    Is there enough metal left around the stripped thread to drill & tap the next size up? I'm not familiar with this motor.

    All fixed Helicoils worked a treat thank god for that
