Well its an Astra so all I can think of is rear lights misting up cos of shite seals. Should clear after driving though apparently, although mine never did. I believe there is uprated seals available though.

There is nothing that is really particular to the VXRs regarding things to check, just the normal things on a performance car but pay particular attention to...

Turbo/engine - Does it sound really whistly on boost? Does it smoke a lot? Has it been ragged constantly? There is a sound on tickover thats almost like 'belt noise' which is apparently the under piston oil cooling jets and is nothing to worry about.

Repaired accident damage - Check for overspray, masking lines (around the door shuts)

Interior - the drivers side seat bolster can look really worn pretty quickly, it's a fairly common thing as the bolsters are big. Good bargaining point if it's a bit tatty here though.

Can't think of anything else at the moment, good luck with your search!!

No more so then any other make......but not necessarily for popping more leaking oil. For extra protection fitting a oil restricter for £20 will help protect the turbo seals.

Turkey noise is common (split diverter valve) but easily sorted by fitting a Forge or Regal valve.

There was a recall on Manifold bolts for some cars, but should have been fixed under warrenty.

Side bolster wear is quite common.

Clocks doing a start up proceedure while driving seems to crop up on some cars... Vauxhall need to do a software update.

Stone chips another major thing but then the way of the new car world as I have seen AUdi's, BMW and the like with similar issues.

Some CIM issues on early cars, but these will have been replaced under warrenty long before now.

Lights misting is common on all modern cars, and yes some VXR have also had the issue. Mine is a 56 plate and while it does have the issue in extreme cold (sub zero temps) it clears up pronto after driving. And as mentioned newer cars have the uprated seals.

poor fitment leads to this! there 99% alrite on the vxr's! it ppl who fit them to gsi's who always complain about vxr turbo's.

my advice wud just be general..

whining noise from turbo, smoke on idle

rocker is common problem but cheap to do...

    do a hpi on it

apart from this there nt alot you can do more mate good luck you will enjoy
