How hard is it to remove and fit new seat belt pretentioners and also is there any pretentioners found in the rear of an astra g.

no pretensioners on the rear seats so dont worry.

They are easy to change, you have to remove the front seats (two t40 torx bits found in the runners) then theres a bigger torx bit holds the body of the tensior to the seat frame, couple of cable ties and a connect. pretty simple.

I have two for sale if need be.

it could be a number of things man, hard to say without seeing it, just try pulling it, working it, theres a little mechanism to stop u flying forward if the belt is suddenly jerked (ie if you crash) its probably just stuck with age or dirt

The rear cemntre seat belt has two safety interlocks that keep it locked up unless the rear seat is in it's upright secure position. One operates off the release catch for the back seat, the other is a pin that latches into the centre hinge assembly when the seat is upright. If either of these don't engage the seat belt stays locked.
They are connected to the seat belt reel by cables, you will need to strip back the carpet on the rear of the seat and possibly the trim cover to get access.
They come as a complete assembly from vauxhall, i.e. new reel, belt, cables & catches & they are not cheap. Might be easier to source an operational seat from a breakers.

If so, Turbo_Chris can probably hook you up with some. He's got a few Astras breaking
