    BMW 316 compact

So i have had my astra for nearly a year now, and i'm thinking of a change.

I had a look at insurance quotes on a few cars with my DOB changed to make me 18 to see what the price would be when i turn. I then decided to be ridiculous and look at a beamer.

To my suprise the quote came about at 2100 for the year, this isnt bad considering my age.

I was just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with these cars? What are they like?

*sorry wrong forum could a mod please move it to other marques/models

just to let you know changing your DOB will not give you an accurate price for how much it will cost you to insure your car

I wouldnt bother paying over £2k for a 316 compact. Is it the old model? If so I doubt the actual car is worth much more than 2 grand.

You'd probably find insurance is cheaper on a astra 1.8 sri and that will kick a 316s ass all day long

This is for when i turn 18, obviously i will change it back to my proper DOB when i come to insure it if i buy one. Unless this is still very innacurate? i was just looking for a rough estimation.

There were two other quotes from admiral and kwik-fit at about 2200.

Funny you should say this, been looking into a 316I SE myself or a coupe. Insurance is about the same as what I was paying for my Astra last year (£750) give or take. Which isnt too bad considering its a BMW. From what I hear though the 316 (1.6 litre) isnt all that quick, so it depends on what you want it for comfort rather than speed. some suggested the 1.8 version, but I'm thinking thats gonna be dear.
Probably the ONLY Astra Mk3 sitting on Corsa D SXI rims!
And Now a Diesel on Discs all round!

If its an E36 compact, then dont bother. Not a real BMW, just a miss match of other bits! Interior is hideous, and appalling quality! Better of without the badge, and buying a better car with a VX or Ford badge!

E46 is better, but would still reccomend a Coupe or Saloon. Much better cars IMO

I was looking at the 1.9.

Something like this, although this one looks like a drug dealers car
