In terms of what our cars are compared to you'd be hard pushed to find anything better. I had a 1.6 hyundai coupe, thought about getting the 2.0 when i came to sell it, had a look 0-60 was about 9.3 seconds, and 20ish mpg hence went and got an astra which would probaly wee on it.

But i dont think there is much interms off simlar engines out there, you could compare to a honda 2000 or a civic type r seeing they are simlar engine size but apart from that they would probz eat the 2.2.

Like i said i cant really think of anything same engine size bhp etc

Just rememberd you could maybe compared to 2.0 civic sport.

for the 3k extra you pay for a CTR, youd probably equal or surpass its straight line speed if you spent it on the engine of the 2.2.. but in the corners theyd eat the astra

id like to know the same answer as i have a 2.0 sri and was thinking about upgrading to the 2.2!!!

Alotttt of money and time to tune up a 2.2, forgive me for mis spelling his user name if he sees this comment... but theres a chap on here with the user name of somthing like ffoeg. Hes got a really good suped up 2.2, with about 180bhp on tap, alot of time and effort hes put in, with alot of parts made himself!

Personaly if i was looking for a car with performance simlar to the type r id buy a type r. Too much time and effort and i really dont think your going to get a 2.2 down to about 6.5 seconds to 60 with out spending wayyyyy more than 3k. A super charger to take the power up to 240ish is about 5-6000 grand fitted. You could get a civic type r for that.

In terms of your 2.0, i duno if youd notice a huge difference. I couldnt really comment ive never driven a 2.0 astra but i dont think the difference in performance is huge. I think the 2.2 has about 5-10 extra bhp and is about half a second quicker to 60, if that!

I know my Civic 1.8 VTI was 166bhp and did 0-60 in 8, think its the same as the 22sri. But I thought the VTI was faster, but could just have been becuase of the VTEC kicking in

    Well a 2.2 SRI is 150bhp IIRC,
And is around average weight for a medium size hatch,
so would be about as quick as a 150bhp golf or focus etc

    standard is 144bhp and 149lbft
    my 2.2 has 177.1bhp 163lbft atm.
it takes alot of time and money to tune this engine.
    my list is like this.
    cone filter
    2.4 inlet manifold
    piper fast road cams
    piper 4-1 tubular exhaust manifold
    pre cat removed
    egr removed
    200cell sports cat
    2.25" cat back.
the next part for my 2.2 is new high comp pistons lighten fly wheel and removing the balancer shafts. which should see me another 10bhp im hopeing.
it weights 1210kg for the hatch and about 1300kg for the coupe.

yeah i am going to slowly go through the list of how to gain power on z22se, when i get more monet that's when the inlet/exhaust manifolds, TB's etc come into it!
