    Advice please

I am currently running on 225/45/17... Question is if I go upto 225/40/18 will this make any difference to the performance. I have checked in the tyre convertor which states not to exceed 2.5%. The new set up would be 0.46%. I understand that to big a jump can cause speedo error but someone told me you can loose some accellaration speed..

    Cheers

Most cars are set up to there optimum tyre size etc when they leave the factory (allowing for optional extras as in a step up for bigger alloys) so changing it may have an effect on your 0-60 or what ever just becuase it takes longer for the car to turn the wheels. In past experiance engines which arnt as powerfull noticeably have a performance drop. Bigger wheels can also mean higher top end but taking longer to get there.

Id ask around and see if anyone has a simlar engine size and has changed alloys etc.
