Help - Boot won't unlock without key

Hi - I have an 04 Astra Coupe Convertible which I just love but it has recently developed a problem which is driving me crazy. The boot will no longer open when I use the central locking - I can now only open the boot using the key in the boot lock. I really don't want to spend loads of money unecessarily to have this repaired - any ideas gratefully received.

My guess is that the boot solenoid is broken...

The boot opens fine whenever it's unlocked?

Did you lock the boot with the key by any chance before this started? As licking it with the key sometimes cocks it up

    Astra locks have three positions
vertical - fully locked position, using the central locking will not open the boot
horizontal - locked, but when central locking is de activated, the boot is also unlocked
verticaly down - to unlock the boot manually (as i am sure you are aware)

If you locked the boot with the key and returned it to vertical position the boot wont unlock until you turn the lock to the horizontal position. Unless of course the solenoid is broke, in which case it would be down the scrap yard for a replacement and probs no more than £15

I just had a problem with my boot. The lock barrel was a bit iffy, and was starting to jam up a bit. The motor (is that the solenoid?) that moves the lock arm inside wasn't powerful enough to push the barrel, and automatically returned to the shut position. It got worse and jammed up to the point it wouldn't even open with the key, so I had to remove the trim panel from the inside, ballache with the boot shut, and open it manually, and then replace the lock barrel. It has a different key than the ignition now, but seeing as it now opens with the CL it's not an issue.
