Exclamation Noise from Timing Belt Cover

    Well just after buying a other 99 Astra G 1.8 16v Sport

Give it a good cleaning session tonight and then went a little lap around the town to see if anyone was about, was parked up with the engine running and then i heard a wee noise and thought it was the van kicking in or something, drove down the road and put the window down and i could hear it still

when i came to the house i got out and listened and it sounds like its coming from the timing belt cover beside the airbox, it doesnt seem to get faster or louder when i rev the car which i think is a good thing!

car was traded into a dealer which is were i got it from and the owner owned in from 2003 so am just hoping now he didnt flog it on because of this or something

any help is appreciated i can even upload a video tomorrow

me and my dad have just been saying that it could be a tensioner, we thought it was to do with the timing belt, but he said its a possibility it could be the waterpump

Much roughly is it for the tensioners and waterpump to be done and then how much for the cambelt as i wouldnt mind getting all 3 done if i can afford it at once

    thanks for the reply

timing belt kit (belt, tensioner, rollers) £70 if not cheaper
    water pump £30

2 hours labour at an independent garage and youll have a little bit left over from £200

Get on the blower to Autovaux for genuine parts at knockdown prices

Omg, someone else called bubba owning the same car as me!

I wouldnt drive it at all, if there is an issue with the timing belt it could be very bad. If the water pump falls it could cause the timing belt to snap.
