Buzzing sound coming from VXR Turbo fitted wednesday.

    Hi peeps,

Had my VXR Turbo which i got on the groupbuy on here fitted to my GSi Z20LET by courtenays on wednesday, i have done 80 miles not really taken it over 5500rpm and has a Percy Oil Restrictor fitted.

On the overrun there is a slight buzzing noise coming from the turbo area, only on the overrun, sounds as if a heatshield is loose but i dont have one fitted?

Im going to ring Courtenay tomorow see what they think, they adjusted the actuator as i am running the standard map, i know i dont have a warranty as i bought the turbo elsewhere but i will ask them what they think the problem is?

    Any replies helpful peeps

small buzzing sound on idle, majority of it on overrun, does this both when hot and cold.

Try tightening the manifold bolts, maybe it's little loose and leaking some....

Try check the bolts on the manifold and also like others had said sometimes the wasgates on these become loose and rattle.

Couldnt get hold of Courtenay today maybe because of the weather i will see what they say Monday.

The sound seems to be coming from the wastegate on the turbo, where the actuator pin connects to the turbo there is a few mm play, i checked on my old ZLET Turbo and there is no play at all, also when you put a screwdriver to it and listen it does sounds like its coming from the wastegate, is there anyway to adjust this?

    Cheers

you might find that the wastegate is loose and is vibrating with the force of the exhaust gases. try tightening the preload on the actuator road slightly to remove the slack.

Ill try that tomorow when its light again cheers,

Is there meant to be any sideways movement in where the actuator rod connects to the wastegate arm, as i can move it in and out a few mm, whereas on my standard ZLET turbo there is no movement whatsoever?

    Cheers
