    driveshaft out of gear box

    hi

    taking drivers side drive shaft off my 1.6 2003 astra

    i was wondering how do you take it out of the gear box??

    a gentle pull may bring it out but you can damage the cv's doing this so use a pry bar at the gearbox

    Take the wheel off.

    Undo the hub nut, unbolt the knuckle to wishbone pinch bolt and knock the wishbone down.

    turn the steering lock to give you most travel, then knock back the cv joint while pulling the knuckle away.

    now pull the driveshaft straight and use a firm but not excessive sliding action to tug the joint out of the box.

    then clean up the drive.
